Well I suppose it depends on the components, etc and I'm sure there are ones that peak much higher but seems like the majority I've seen posted peak around that area?

I think Schmitty's 632 peaked a little bit higher then that but I'm pretty sure it was done before 7800.

I've done a lot of searching on here and must have overlooked it, also some of the older posts photobucket removed what pictures were posted if i'm not mistaken.
Anyway I'm going to a 1450 on gas instead of alky 1250 so that should help it breathe a little deeper.

Schmitty runs a little bigger carb then the 1450, Oakley supplied a 2.300" Quick Fuel for that build.

598 C heads Empty Dyno Results

Post  STR-LGL-70 December 26th 2018, 3:00 pm

Ended up with 1126 hp @ 7000 and 901 tq at 6100 so i'm pretty happy with the results. Gonna be a big change from DOOE-R heads and a port-o sonic Laughing
Can only speculate with more cam and compression would it have made, definitely left some on the table. Should be a reliable bracket engine that makes good power w/o having to spin it too hard.

Also tried a BRE carb with 2.2 throttle blades and went 1151 hp.

I think that is great results. I have more compression, more cam, and two carbs and that was 1188 at 7800 rpm.

I think so too, especially considering the things you mentioned. Hopefully with the smallish cam and lower compression it will reduce the maintenance somewhat. I still agree with the A heads and now the SR-71 also being the best bang for the buck.

It's pretty good but if you check out some of the others on here they are right at 2 hp per cube. The C heads and Keith Fulps' interceptor heads are pretty serious pieces. I do believe Freelander is sandbagging a bit on his 638 Razz

Yes, it was dynoed at Monte's shop but I will have to find out about the correction factor. Monte did say that the weather wasn't the best the day they got final #'s or it may have made a little more. Also there was no spacer between carb and intake so there is probably a little there as well. I do have a dyno pull video but don't know how to post it.

When do you think you'll get a chance to put it on the track and make a pass?

Yes sir it would! Decided on the lower compression so when I'm ready to start using the fogger set up I would have less chance of hurting it.

I'd say best case 2 or 3 months. I need to do a rear shock up grade, new slicks, chute and I'm sure I'll run into other things. Would also like to change the input shaft on the C-6 while it's out.

Finally had the time to work on the car; re did the fuel system front to back, etc so I could drive it. I can tell you it's a big change in the way it feels compared to the old engine from the driver's seat! Have to tidy up some electrical and get a better driveshaft before I go to the track; hopefully next month if Orlando is not shut down with this virus going around. If I could post a video here I would but don't know how. I put one on BBF dragracing facebook page but one of the mods took it down.
